The inspiration for this line was mid-century modern architecture on the West Coast. The inspiration came from the architecture’s geometric shapes and repetitive patterns. As well as, the style’s stark juxtaposition against the leafy palm trees and tropical flora.

This line is designed for the bridge price category for women between the ages of 35-50. She is most likely a business profession who looks for interesting pieces to add to her wardrobe. The idea is that the unique, architecture-inspired style lines will transcend fashion fads, yet always be in style.

Better (left), Bridge (right)

For this assignment we were paired with another student. The goal was to design separate "mini" collections for different price points, while still collaborating to make them look cohesive. The "bridge" line (above, right), uses higher quality fabrics and has more detailing and intricate style lines meaning it would cost more to manufacture. While, the "better" line (above, left) is more youthful and simplified, but still borrows from ideas in the "bridge" line. The hope is that the consumer would be able to mix and match pieces from both collections.

During the in-class "line adoption" process, three looks were illuminated. The three that were illuminated lacked the sophistication and detail that a "bridge" line should have, however I think they could be made for the better category.
